For too long our martial arts in the USA has served as at best an "art" and at worst a "sport". Far from reaching the true potential of the martial arts, most students of the martial arts do not study the introspective and most powerful part of the martial arts. Too many schools of martial arts are focused on the physical and business aspect of martial training. As a result our communities are too often "dysfunctional" with violence, mistrust, and abuse happening in our families and personal relationships. MBSMA and our partners are engaged in conversations which promote healing, peace, and power. These conversations keep people engaged in what is possible for their lives, keeping focused on the reality of their current situations and emotions to master the things in life that they choose to in order to achieve any lifestyle they wish.

What is a Social Development Strategy?
Based on research by the Social Development Research Group (SDRG), it is a plan set forth by Mind Body Spirit Martial Arts (MBSMA) which focuses on the sociological aspects of how adolescents develop positive relationships and behaviors. Research has shown how conditions in community, school, family, and peer environments, as well as physiological and personality traits that affect children as they develop into adults.
Social Development is based on two factors which MBSMA focuses on to have an impact on adolescents: bonding to prosocial family, school and peers, and clear standards or norms for behavior. Through training in martial arts, a student becomes bonded to the instructor and a mentorship is formed. The instructor utilizes the student's willingness to train in the martial arts to affect all levels of development in crucial areas. With the opportunity to learn martial arts a students gains opportunities for proving themselves in learning martial arts. Students are given rigorous physical training and pushed to achieve goals in their training.
